Nicolas Ancion - Der 35-Milliarden-Mann
Arcelor-Mittal, the world's largest steel company, has bought the steelworks in Liège and now wants to shut it down. The workforce is laid off, including Octavio, who has been working at the blast furnace for decades. Richard, an unsuccessful artist from Liège, doesn't want to accept this, especially since Octavio once saved his life.
Together with his friend Léon, Richard plans an ingenious scheme: kidnapping as an art performance, staged for media effect. The coup succeeds. Lakshmi Mittal falls for the two of them, and a television station takes the bait. But then things suddenly get out of hand.

Maša Kolanović - Underground Barbie
Sloboština is a high-rise residential area on the outskirts of Zagreb. Maša Kolanović's protagonist grows up there in the 1980s, and like many girls all over the world, she and her friends spend hours of the day in the glamorous, imaginary world of their Barbie dolls.
At the beginning of the 1990s, political reality, the war and the collapse of Yugoslavia, intrudes on the carefree childhood. As an air raid siren goes off, the residents seek safety in the basement of the high-rise. Barbie's world is now created between jars and rat traps, and a battered Ken figure from the flea market is promoted to a nationalist leader.

Nenad Popović (Hrsg.) - Kein Gott in Susedgrad
In the mid-1990s, a generation of Croatian authors began to write against the backdrop of the collapsing state of Yugoslavia. These are new voices whose literature would have been unthinkable without the war: it made them witnesses to internal and external devastation - and unleashed their creativity. "Kein Gott in Susedgrad" collects texts from this generation which was thought to be lost, but which revitalised Croatia's literary landscape with determination and ingenuity.
